Intermediate Jumps & Drops Skills Session

This session is designed for riders who are already comfortable with the fundamentals of jumping and drops and are looking to improve consistency, confidence, and control across a wider range of features.

Using our purpose built jump line, MTB Hopper ramps, and suitable trail features, riders will develop their technique through a series of progressive exercises focused on generating speed, improving bike movement, and riding features more efficiently and confidently.

The session focuses on refining existing skills and helping riders understand how to adapt their technique to different jump shapes, sizes, speeds, and trail situations.

Riders will learn how to:

● Maintain strong, dynamic riding positions through take off, flight, and landing

● Generate and control lift using effective body movements

● Adjust technique for different jump and drop types

● Manage speed and timing for improved consistency

● Stay balanced and composed when linking multiple features together

● Absorb terrain effectively while maintaining flow and momentum

● Improve confidence when riding larger or more technical features

⚠️ IMPORTANT – JUMPS & DROPS

All features remain optional, and riders will never be required to attempt anything they are not comfortable with. Coaches will work with individuals to ensure progression remains appropriate to their ability and confidence levels.

Coaches will focus on key intermediate skills, including:

● Speed management and approach strategy

● Pumping and generating momentum through features

● Timing and body positioning for efficient take-offs

● Controlling bike attitude in the air

● Smooth, controlled landings

● Linking jumps and drops while maintaining flow and consistency

● Reading trail features and selecting effective lines

We will utilise our range of MTB Hopper ramps, the jump line, and other suitable trail features to develop riders’ understanding of how to carry speed, generate control, and adapt their technique to different situations. Riders will also work on linking features together, maintaining a neutral upper body, and allowing dynamic movement through the bike to maximise grip, stability, and flow.

Price per session is £35.00

As you enter the school drive please turn right towards the ‘sports’ area and follow the road down to the right where you will see our flags and carpark.

What to bring on the day: A Mountain Bike, a mountain bike helmet (no BMX helmets) and gloves – in full working order, appropriate clothing (long trousers) and footwear including waterproof jacket (please be aware that clothing and shoes can get muddy by the end of the session so a change of clothes may be handy). Snacks and a drink.

We will conduct a safety check on all bikes and advise on correct set up before every course.

Regardless of age, ability or skill level the Trail Academy is here to help. It is our aim to make all our classes as fun and progressive as possible. We want everyone to learn at their own pace and have fun while doing it!
